What Drives A Mother to Kill?

When you are pregnant you develop a bond with the baby. That bond strengthens when you feel the baby move for the first time, when you hear the heart beat and it definitely occurs when you go for your sonogram and you see your baby. It's such an amazing feeling. Unfortunately, this is not the case for every woman. Some women may find it difficult to bond with her unborn child.

So how does someone carry a baby for months, give birth, bring the baby home and then kill the baby? Have you been following the story about Megan Huntsman the 39-year-old woman who was arrested in Utah for killing at least six of her seven babies; one baby was born stillborn. She then stuffed their innocent lifeless bodies into individual boxes and packed them away in the garage. How can she look at herself in the mirror knowing what she has done? The news has labeled her a baby serial killer.

Baby serial killers are very rare. However, it appears that she is not the first woman who has been identified as an infanticide serial killer. Dominique Cottrez, a woman from Villers-au-Tertre, France, confessed to suffocating eight of her babies as newborns. Celene Lesage, another French woman who murdered six infants and hid them in a cellar. Marybeth Tinning was arrested for smothering her 4-month-old daughter. She was also suspected in the deaths of her eight other children. Unfortunately, she was never convicted for those deaths. Waneta Hoyt a woman from upstate New York murdered five of her children. She was sentenced to life, but died in prison while serving her time.

How could these women commit such a heinous act, let alone six or more additional times? Are there more babies we don't know about? Another question is WHY? The police have stated they think they know what Megan's motive was, but they are not going to disclose that information to the public. The bigger question is how come no one noticed these babies were never around or with their mother? Did they have an accomplice? Do these women have a history of mental illness? Were they suffering with postpartum depression?

This could occur if the woman was diagnosed with postpartum depression or other mental illnesses. However that does not make it okay. I believe Megan, Dominique, Celene, Marybeth and the other women who killed their babies are cold, cruel and heartless. There are so many women who are not able to conceive (for whatever reason). I'm sure it would not have been difficult to find a few candidates. I don't know what I would do without my girls. They mean everything to me. They are my life; my reason for living. I don't know if I could live without them. I don't know what I would do without them.

I believe any mother who kills their child(ren) are selfish. They are not thinking about the child(ren), but are only concerned with their feelings whether it's anger, heartache or pain.  In their mind, killing the child(ren), they are killing or ridding themselves of what is causing them pain.   When in reality it has nothing to do with the child,  but everything to do with what is going on with them mentally and emotionally. Please ladies if you have horrible thoughts about harming your child(ren) or yourself, please seek help.

Why do you think these mothers killed their babies?

Happy Birthday To Me

Thirty-seven years ago today, I blessed the world with my presence. I do not make a fuss of my birthday because I do the same thing every year. NOTHING! I do not plan anything because it is around the time school begins. My daughter's birthday is also a few days later. Those events are far more important. So as a result, I do not do anything . Now that I think about it, in all of my years on this earth I have never had a birthday celebration that consisted of my friends and my family. I have had  intimate gatherings. Each one I had consisted of my immediate family only. This is also because I don't consider everyone I know or associate with my friend. .  After doing a lot of reflecting, I noticed that I have never celebrated anything that I have accomplished in my adult life. So, I have decided that I will create my very own holiday where I celebrate me and all that I have accomplished in my life thus far. So, I wish myself a Happy Birthday to me. God bless me...

Happy 10th Birthday Nyasia

It was a cold February day. I recall being at work and talking to my friend/coworker "Medina". I told her that my menstrual cycle was late and I needed to go to Duane Reade during lunch. That day I took a total of four pregnancy test. I needed to make sure because of a previous experience I had with her sister Tereya. When I was pregnant with Tereya, I  also took three test. The results were not accurate. One was positive, two were negative and finally a positive blood test. There is no need for me to elaborate, we all know how the story ended. Lol! September 8th, is a very special day. God blessed me with my second daughter one decade ago today. I remember that night as if it were yesterday. If it were up to the ER physician, Nyasia would have been born in the elevator or the sidewalk. My Ob/Gyn was performing a c-section and he barely made it in time to deliver my baby. Dr. Kuno handed me this little tiny baby with the big beautiful eyes. She was born at 12:56am...

My Browngirl Is Graduating From College Today

Screaming Congratulations!!! Today is Tereya's big day. She is graduating from Brooklyn College. Tereya has accomplished so much. I am so proud of her and the young lady she has become. She did not have the opportunity to take her graduation pictures, nor did she have a traditional graduation ceremony today.  We were not able to schedule hair, nail and make up appointments. My plan is to have her do these things as well have her photos taken to commerate this accomplishment. The pandemic came in wreaking havoc on our lives. She had to complete her final semester of college remotely. It was a challenge, but she did not let that or Corona deter her. She held onto the goal and trusted the process. It was not easy, but it was worth it. Guess what Tinkerbell, YOU did it.  You have set the path for your only sister. You may get on each others nerves, but she looks up to you. Tereya you have fought through some bad days to earn the best days of you...
